No child should have to choose between food, school supplies, or personal care; yet those are the daily decisions faced by the children of Haiti. Schools remained closed in Haiti all of Fall 2019 due to the political unrest and safety issues. Many people would have given up but the people of Haiti persisted! Their persistence paid off when schools were re-opened in January. While the security level remained high, children braved the streets to make their way to school daily and they were greeted with open arms.

 

School is not just a place of education but a refuge.

 

We contemplated whether we should return to Haiti due to these circumstances. However we came to the realization that if the children could be such courageous individuals, we could too!
